Lent and Easter 2020

My Dear Parishioners

The Church gives us the Season of Lent to encourage us to make a special effort for a few short weeks. Traditionally we associate Lent with giving up something and we may have something in mind again this year. But really the focus should be on doing something extra, particularly something spiritual. This year we have put together a programme which allows us to focus on our spiritual journey and perhaps we could look at the list below and choose something extra for the weeks of Lent. We also have the “Walk with Me” Prayer Books and Calendars to help us day by day. Remember the early morning Mass at 7am for Lent, on Thursdays (Breakfast to follow). We also have an extra Monday evening Mass at St Augustine’s at 7pm with Stations of the Cross. There are also Stations of the Cross with the school children on Friday afternoons in each of the Churches, this will be during term time at 2.30pm in both St Augustine’s and at Christ the King. These Stations are led by the children themselves and they are always very moving. We will have a special service for Confession, on Monday 6th April with visiting Priests at Christ the King. Our service of Healing and Anointing is on Sunday 29th March at 4.00pm with Easter Tea to follow. We will have our Passover Meal on Sunday 5th April at 4.00pm. There is also a weekly Prayer Group for Lent on Tuesday’s at 2.00pm in the Meeting Room. Please let people know about these opportunities, I hope that we can all make good use of the Holy Season of Lent.

God Bless, Fr Tom
